A Brief History

After attending the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, the Vietnam War, George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art, Bill had a thirty-year career in graphic design and illustration.  As a technical illustrator and graphic designer for most government agencies including NASA in Washington, DC, his illustrations included conceptual renderings of the Space Shuttle, the booster rockets and the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as the Viking and Voyager I and Voyager II spacecrafts that had identifying logos referencing our position in our galaxy to which he also contributed.  He also made precisely scaled ship models from scratch using blueprints for the Navy.  He illustrated underwater salvage operations and nuclear effects on Navy fleets, as well as concepts for alternate energy generators.  He continued in the aerospace industry in San Diego, California.  He illustrated over four thousand CAD illustrations showing jet engine mechanics how to remove and install engine systems.  He also won several national awards for Fortune 500 Annual Report designs and a Corporate Identity manual.  He is the former owner of an art gallery in California, and a sign business in Colorado, where he was an award winning sign designer with over a thousand sign designs.  Additional work completed more recently was 48 maps of historical battles for an e-book on the complete history of warfare for Westpoint Military Academy.

Bill’s love of art in many forms keeps him continually working with different mediums. He is a designer, a luthier, a photographer, a sculptor, a watercolor and alkyd painter and most importantly a committed Christian.  Bill is a third generation Colorado native who loves spending time in the high country.  He is married to Annette, a talented illustrator.  The Hutchins are parents to three grown children, have two grandchildren and live in Bayfield, Colorado.  Â
